In a bold move to bolster its workforce, McDonald's has unveiled plans to recruit up to 375,000 employees across the United States during the summer of 2025. This substantial hiring effort aligns with the company's expansion goals, which include opening 900 new locations by 2027, adding to its existing 13,500 restaurants nationwide.
The new positions, spanning both company-owned and franchised outlets, are intended to be permanent roles, reflecting McDonald's optimism about future growth despite recent challenges. Notably, the company experienced a 3.6% decline in U.S. same-store sales in the first quarter of 2025, the most significant drop since 2020.
U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer praised the initiative, stating, "McDonald's is sparking a ripple effect of prosperity for our workers, communities, and the economy."
Beyond job creation, McDonald's continues to invest in employee development through its "Archways to Opportunity" program, which has provided tuition assistance and career services to over 90,000 employees over the past decade.
