Wells Enterprises, the Iowa-based manufacturer behind popular brands like Blue Bunny and Halo Top, announced a voluntary recall on April 25, 2025, affecting over 17,800 cartons of ice cream and frozen yogurt. The recall was initiated due to the potential presence of plastic pieces in the products, as reported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The affected products encompass 22 different flavors packaged in 3-gallon tubs, distributed to 103 locations nationwide, including restaurants, healthcare facilities, and schools. The products have "Best If Used By" dates ranging from March 2026 through October 2026.
The FDA has classified this recall as a Class II event, indicating that the contaminated products could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, with the risk of serious harm considered remote . As of now, there have been no reported injuries or adverse reactions related to the recall.
